Project Update

Our first report is here.

When we started with PeerPay at the beginning of 2022, we knew that we would learn a lot and have several challenges, but we have learned much more than expected, we have achieved more opportunities in the future, we have had valuable user feedback and we are already preparing the following years.
Regarding the technical details, we have managed to make a lot of progress, including doing a test implemented CBDC technology through an ILP connector.
We have also been able to present PeerPay to funds, accelerators, and other investors, mainly to get their feedback and show the advantages of Interledger for these types of projects.

 Progress on objectives

PeerPay is already a functional prototype, which we have tested with users from Chile, Argentina, Venezuela and Colombia to verify the safe sending of money assuming that they will be remittances.
These tests were carried out within the XRPL network for the exchange of money, connected with own ILP nodes.
During the course of testing, we received feedback such as:

Adjustments to the visual design of the platform: At first, the platform was not so friendly and easy to understand, especially for those who do not understand payment networks or blockchain.

Ease of receiving payments: We take a functionality from other Fintech to facilitate receiving payments, and that is to create payment links to share and simplify payments.

At the communication and marketing level, we have made alliances and participated in some events in South America to show PeerPay.

In 2023, our goal is to integrate with businesses to make it easier for people to pay directly without having to attend in person or rely on credit cards.

 Key activities

Our key activities in these months have been:
Feedback collection: After the first version, the feedback obtained by users was:

Improve the interface: Beyond the proposed financial inclusion solution, we realized that many users do not have the technical knowledge to understand advanced aspects of using Web platforms, so we began to simplify the interface, with better-highlighted buttons, simpler words to explain everything and many pages have tooltips to explain each section that the user can see, because they also told us that they would not see videos because the platform should be self-explanatory.

Understanding of money transfer options: We had different types of users, from people who know or use some cryptocurrency, to people who do not understand technology, which led us to understand that in transfers (also when creating wallets), we must give different options for each user, which is why we are building 4 modalities: a) Multi-chain: for people who know about cryptocurrencies and other assets, but do not understand Blockchain and networks, allowing exchange through Interledger. b) Single-chain: For people who understand Blockchain and like one in particular, in this modality users send and receive money in a single network always through ILP (for now we only have XRPL capabilities). c) Centralized (see our preview below): For people who prefer to trust Central Banks and their new digital currencies, without worrying about managing money on their own. d) Multi-currency: For people who still prefer fiat money.

Other advances:

Communication and marketing: In the section below, we detail what we have done and our objectives for 2023 onwards.

Communities: We are working with communities of entrepreneurs and people in different conditions, through Socialab (an NGO that promotes social enterprises) with which we have been able to reach different users in different corners of various countries.

Technologies: In addition to the integration with nodes in the XRPL network, we are working on integrating Gnosis Chain (the creator of the DAI stablecoin, since it is very cheap), the Bitcoin SV network (a Bitcoin fork, because we are starting to work in opportunities with them), and some Ethereum Virtual Machine - EVM compatible networks (Fantom, TRON and Polygon). We will work on non-EVM networks from 2023. Additionally, we are still working on the integration between Rafiki and PeerPay (we already have some successful internal tests) and we are starting to explore Dassie as another integration for the platform, so we can facilitate and decentralize liquidity and payments through PeerPay.

During these months, we participated in the Ripple hackathon on CBDC technology, and in our case, we were able to implement a private blockchain with CBDC in PeerPay connected with Interledger, since this blockchain is identical to XRPL, so we use the same connector. And we won the hackathon. With this experience, we see an added value in using the Interledger Protocol for this new type of assets, since it really is a very valuable bridge for financial inclusion with the participation of Central Banks.

 Communications and marketing

To show our progress, through the main company that created PeerPay, Techgethr, we partnered with the Insurtech Argentina Chamber in order to participate with other startups and offer PeerPay as an option on their platforms/startups and for insurance companies. We participated in different events, mainly in Argentina and online, including in training that we did on technologies (always with the opportunity to show PeerPay to the attendees).
We already participated (and were invited) to events in Córdoba, Mendoza and Buenos Aires (cities in Argentina) to show PeerPay in those cities and get closer to local communities, taking advantage of alliances and connecting payments through Interledger with the world of insurance.
We promoted alliances with other emerging startups in South America from the Fintech world, such as Regcheq (a company to verify identities through KYC and AML), because we saw that in order to reach every corner and talk about financial inclusion, we needed to be inclusive and we couldn't get there alone to meet every need of people.

 What’s next?

With the first year coming to an end, the future for PeerPay is very promising.
By winning Ripple's CBDC hackathon, we remain in contact with the area in charge of this technology to continue working on these new assets and integrate them into PeerPay through ILP, which will allow us to serve different countries and be prepared as a payment system massive from the first day that the Central Banks decide to operate in real form with this type of money.

Additionally, thanks to the Kanoo Innovation Hub, we are going to explore the use of PeerPay in the Caribbean (a great pole for cryptocurrencies) with mentoring and access to networks and alliances for it.
Finally, with Draper University we will have the possibility of showing PeerPay to other countries where there are contact networks and accessing a network of funds and investors.

We want to transform PeerPay into the "Paypal of Web 3.0", but always with the vision of concrete financial inclusion and that the future requires that all types of currencies can coexist and people can be educated and have the decision about what type of coin handle.

We are also working on integrating a KYC (Know Your Customer) platform to validate users, but that is not so complex if we think about ease of use.

With the feedback from users and the research we have done, the new features we are working on are:

Money in real time: To pay bills or salaries in limited periods of time (minutes, hours, days), so people can have part of their income immediately without depending on credit.

Monetary portability: The volatility in many countries and the lack of trust in governments, leads us to give people (especially the most vulnerable people) to be the ability to move their money in different assets within ILP (from fiat to crypto, from crypto to CBDC, from CBDC to stablecoin, from stablecoin to crypto and more), to give people some reassurance that their money has value to them.

Soon, in another post we will publish all new features that we have in mind and some that we will be enabling.

What community support would benefit your project?

For us, the community is fundamental, and our goal is to reach all parts of the world, but we know that this is not feasible only through us, and we need other projects in the rest of the world (Africa, Asia, Europe, USA and more) want to integrate with PeerPay (through API) and we with their applications, thus empowering us so that they can access Latin America and PeerPay to the entire world.

Additionally, we believe that trust in the ecosystem needs more actors, and in addition to the ILP nodes that we manage, we want to connect to other ILP nodes (with different ledgers and blockchains) to make it a system with greater access to users, without depending on a single actor (us) to make it more decentralized.

 Additional comments

At PeerPay our vision is long-term. We know that financial inclusion will take years, but it is what we want to do and we understand the challenges that will come our way.
We also want to be allied with other projects working on financial inclusion (not only on payment issues) and help from our experience for the success of you and the entire ecosystem.

Let's keep in touch with each other. Our email is nestor@techgethr.com

 Introduction

I'm Nestor Campos, from Chile. I am the founder of PeerPay.
I participated in the Interledger Summit as an attendee and speaker, managing to learn from highly prepared and motivated people with the evolution of money, financial inclusion and access to opportunities for all.

Key highlights about your participation at the Summit

In my case, I presented on Sunday about the opportunities that are presented with Interledger in Latin America (I think I could have presented better, but I managed to share my ideas and experiences after building our PeerPay project).
I participated in some discussions (as an assistant) in order to understand more about the experience of other grantees and exhibitors from other parts of the world, as well as generating technical and commercial contacts so that we can continue advancing in promoting our initiatives/projects from now on.

Highlight your key takeaways from the Summit

The event was spectacular in general, there were many new things learned and a spectacular network of contacts.
I think Open Payments technology is very good, but it's a long way from being more popular for use (just because it's not as well known as other technologies).
I also believe that all of us who are working with these technologies, when exposing them to non-technical people, should stop using words like Web3 and more (the massification of technologies and opportunities has to be without technical terms, otherwise it will always be for a group select people).
Finally, and I think it is very important, to start generating regional meetups in different languages to continue extending Interledger everywhere (but that is the responsibility of us, the grantees and those who are motivated to help in some way).

Indicate topic(s) if any, you thought could have been covered but were not.

For me it was a fairly complete summit in which all the topics were covered, but I would include topics related to how the future of cryptocurrencies would be more related to the Interledger Protocol (there was a little talk about that in some talks, but I mean topics more specific).

Let us know how you might be interested in participating in ILPSummit2023.

Of course yes, yes or yes I will be at the next Interledger Summit to continue learning, show more of our project and share our experience with everyone.

What have you done post-Summit to showcase your participation in the Summit?

I have shared on my social networks (Twitter and LinkedIn) about my experience at the Summit (links below).
Also from LinkedIn I have been contacted by some people from Chile, Argentina and Peru who want to know more about Interledger, so we are coordinating some virtual events and teach about Interledger Protocol, Web Monetization and Open Payments, both in specific events and related to more topics. general, such as Web3 (when the events are available I will share them here).
I am going to create more videos on my YouTube channel about the technologies seen at the Summit and share the projects that use Interledger with the communities I manage (always in Spanish).

Any next steps and/or leads emanating from your participation at the Summit?

In addition to reconnecting with the people I met, I am going to further strengthen the relationship with the Interledger Foundation, helping to create content in Spanish to bring the Latino community closer (this 2022 I already made a video and a meetup about Interledger Protocol) and it is time to enhance it.
At the same time, we continue advancing with our project, and thanks to the fact that we won the Ripple hackathon on CBDC technology with PeerPay, now we are going to take an additional step and we are going to test using the Interledger Protocol with this new type of assets (Central Bank digital currencies ) to understand the possibilities and see a concept that I explained in my talk, about monetary portability, that is, being able to connect and move one's own money between fiat, crypto and CBDC currencies.

 Relevant links/resources (optional)

Posts created and shared on social networks:

 Project Update

PeerPay ("Payment system for one billion people") already has its first Web version (https://peerpayapp.com/), available for any user to try. Not only is this its first version, but it also includes a lot of feedback that the tremendous Interledger community and Grant for the Web have given us.
We are in the middle of the project, with a lot of learning, with many challenges ahead and with tremendous opportunities that we are working on.

 Progress on objectives

The proposed objectives for this year in PeerPay are:

Web development as MVP: It is ready and functional with test accounts (ILP accounts). Accessible at https://peerpayapp.com/

Localization: Thanks to the feedback from the community, we realized the importance that PeerPay was not only in Spanish, so it can also be used in English and Portuguese.

API development: The architecture is ready and the team is working on refining the last details to publish the API and allow the development of new products for builders.

Communication and marketing strategy: We developed a strategic plan that includes alliances with other protocols and blockchain to participate in PeerPay. It also includes financial entities (which we are now going to talk to some of them taking advantage of the ready MVP) and exposure of PeerPay to entrepreneurs to test the functionalities and understand how they are used to adjust the platform.

Finally, with all the work that we have done so far, we see the importance on more levels of the problem that we want to address. In other words, the initial idea that we made that PeerPay be a payment processor is not enough, but also that we have to be an enabler of other platforms that build on Interledger, and we have built PeerPay like this, so that other platforms focus their parts important and to send and receive payments use what we have already done with PeerPay. Because if we want to reach a billion people, we will not do it alone.

 Key activities

Our work during these first 5 months has consisted of:

Iterative development of the platform: We made 3 versions, in the first only available in Spanish and with a different design from the current one, which had feedback to adjust it due to problems in its use. In the second, with the current design, thinking of a simpler, clearer navigation and with new features (select the type of wallet to create, create payment links to share and information for reports). In the current one, similar to the second version, but available in 3 different languages (Spanish, English and Portuguese), and built through API (which will soon be available to the public).

Payment module in MVP: Taking the competition (other payment processors) as a reference, we enable a form of payment through simpler forms and with data filled in by the payment recipient (without the need to code anything) and the possibility to generate a payment link to share, avoiding having to send payment data by traditional means such as emails or messages.

Marketing and communication: We have been exhibiting PeerPay in events for entrepreneurs, mainly face-to-face in Chile, to show the benefits of sending and receiving payments. Also in a private event of the Argentine InsurTech Chamber, of which our company Techgethr is a member, to show the other members the opportunities to use PeerPay in their startups.

Infrastructure: We are putting together an infrastructure plan to enable Interledger nodes for use in PeerPay, both our own and to support financial entities.

The modules that are developed in PeerPay are:

Wallet: Here users can add their different ILP accounts (for now only IPLv4 test accounts, but built for any provider). In addition, it allows differentiating between personal and company accounts, in which the latter allow adding more information for the issuance of invoices (this part is under construction). Finally, it allows checking account balances in a similar way to Web 3.0 wallets, that is, without saving the information/passwords of the wallet by database, but rather locally (this may change in the following versions). Additionally, remembering an ILP address can be complicated, PeerPay allows every wallet to add a unique alias, to be able to share it with anyone and make it easy to remember.

Address book: Like any payment platform, the user can add the recipients of their payments to simplify their processes and speed them up.

Payment and transfers: This module allows you to send payments to other wallets (of third parties or your own), including generating payment links to share and see the details of all the transfers sent and received in your ILP addresses, in addition to seeing historical records.

Reports (under construction): Although this module was not designed for this development, we realized the importance of giving users information about how they are using their money.

Notifications: This is not directly a module, but the platform sends certain notifications to users (validate emails, reset passwords, payment generated and payment received). We are working on the mail designs after validating all the notifications that we will build.

The hosting of the platform so far has been:

Microsoft Azure for the Web platform, API and database.

SendGrid for email notification system.

Cloudflare for DNS management, security certificates and content delivery network.

 Communications and marketing

The first part of the job was to take care of the development. We decided to focus on having at least one working version of PeerPay and now we will start on that part (almost no marketing and promotion expenses to date).
But we have taken advantage of making PeerPay known to be integrated with other protocols. For example, we are working with the DICO Network (on the Kusama/Polkadot network) to integrate their protocol so that they can send and receive their tokens within the PeerPay and Interledger Protocol.
In addition, we created a LinkedIn profile that we will use as a professional point of contact.

Finally, we did a meetup (and we will do more) to teach about Interledger Protocol, WebMonetization and PeerPay. The video is available at: https://youtu.be/17YfiOnb0YY

 What’s next?

Despite the platform, we have a tremendous challenge ahead of us, and for the rest of this year, our goals are:

Create the PeerPay API, so that developers of new apps can create new products and services on our platform. Including an SDK for some of the most used programming languages (probably C#).

Help integrate PeerPay into platforms for entrepreneurs so they can sell their products and receive income. This may involve changing the web interface based on feedback.

Integrate ourselves with banking and financial entities willing to be part of Web3 and participate in the project.

Create our own nodes to enable our own accounts, that is, be an ILP provider like the rest. And we are going to integrate Rafiki in PeerPay.

Work on the marketing and promotion of PeerPay (the part of the unused funds is dedicated to this), massifying the benefits and establishing alliances with organizations and companies.

What community support would benefit your project?

PeerPay must have a synergy with the community from various aspects:

If you want to learn how to use it, you can create an account, use it as a test and give us feedback.

If you are a node operator (provider) and want to integrate with PeerPay, you are welcome to do so. We will help you reach more users.

If you are or are part of a financial institution (regardless of size), contact us and help your customers access payments at lower costs.

The community can help us by giving us feedback at nestor@techgethr.com, it can also help us show PeerPay to any other startups we might partner with.

 Additional comments

PeerPay is an ambitious project, which is why our motto is "Payment system for one billion people", that regardless of your employment, economic situation, residence status in a country, they can participate in the financial system (either with fiat or crypto). That thanks to Web3, the financial industry is not excluded, but is a relevant actor, that entrepreneurs can sell their products formally with the minimum possible requirements, that small and large companies can send and receive payments in an agile way , that people can send and receive money at the lowest possible cost and access different services without problems.

We are making PeerPay an independent company that meets the requirements and regulations, starting with Chile, to be an actor in the Fintech and Web3 industry.

Think in PeerPay as the "Paypal for everyone".

Meetup in Spanish: Introducción al Protocolo Interledger y WebMonetization

In order to grow the community and enhance WebMonetization and Interledger Protocol technologies, it is very important to share knowledge.
From my experience, in Latin America there are great professionals who can promote and develop with these technologies, but they still don't have the opportunity to get to know them.
For this reason, I have created and will speak in a meetup thinking about the community in Spanish this May: https://www.meetup.com/web3-explorers/events/285495564/

If you have contacts or friends who speak Spanish and you want them to know more about WebMonetization or Interledger, share this link to be more every day: https://www.meetup.com/web3-explorers/events/285495564/

On other occasions, the idea is to hold other events so that people who are already developing their projects with these technologies can show them (we are not competitors, we are a community).

PeerPay - A new payment platform for people and companies

** this is not a grant report (in other posts I will publish the grant report).
** PeerPay is part of the last cohort of Grant For the Web grantees

 Introduction

Every day it becomes more necessary for all people to access financial services, but there is a large group of people who do not meet the enormous requirements set by financial institutions.
That is why we are creating PeerPay, which, through the Interledger protocol, allows you to manage IPLv4 accounts in one place, send and receive payments, view all transfers, add an alias for each account (so as not to directly share your ILPv4 address), create payment links to share with your customers and more).

 Why create PeerPay?

Because there are many people who need to access payment methods and cannot do so in the traditional system, or in the crypto world they need certain technical knowledge that they do not have.
For example, a migrant who is in a country and is in the process of regularizing her situation does not have access to a current account to send and receive money digitally to her relatives in another country. Or an entrepreneur needs to send and receive digital payments in their local currency, without the high fees that other platforms deliver.

Using the Interledger protocol as the address system for the accounts, PeerPay is the protocol for managing the sending and receiving of money, always giving users power over their income, maintaining traceability and formality to simplify anyone's use.

Initially, we are developing PeerPay in Spanish for the Latin American market, but as the project progresses we will add the rest of the world population.

 What's coming

In the following months, we will improve the platform in the following aspects:

Integrate with Rafiki for a better experience of our platform.

Sending emails every time a payment is made or received.

Download PDF of each transfer.

See in a better way a historical chart of transfers.

Enable an API so that developers can connect directly from their apps.

Enable an SDK (initially in C#) for developers.

Adjust the design of the Web platform.

And much more.

Additionally, we are starting to work with people without access to the banking system (migrants, small entrepreneurs and more) to show the benefits and advantages of PeerPay and the Interledger
protocol.

 Feedback and about us

Everyone is free to use PeerPay, you just need to understand Spanish to use it for now.
Any feedback, feel free to write to nestor@techgethr.com
Techgethr is a company for Web 3.0. We are a hub that develops products and services with a view to inclusion in all aspects of life using decentralized technologies, empowering people.

 Project Update

The report number #1 is here

And the report number #2 is here

We had already completed the committed libraries, but we requested a change to address the budget that we had left.
We saw that we could execute marketing campaigns without the need for more resources and also, one of the most used frameworks, JQuery, was not initially considered in the proposal, so the change was to redirect the budget that we had left to develop a library for JQuery, which was approved.
We have even created a simple example of using the methods and they work on this link, using Puma Browser

After the project, our focus will be the promotion in free and community events, as well as supporting other programmers to integrate our tools.

The new library, for Jquery, is available and documented with an example here.

 Progress on objectives

Development: The design of the libraries proposed in the project has progressed very well, We have finished the missing libraries, in ReactJS, VueJS and Angular. In addition, we are publishing more examples of the use, so that it is more natural for users to understand what we have done. Also, the new library was created, for JQuery.

Events and marketing: We have already spent a little more resources with other organizations in Chile to help us spread our project, even in some paid communities, we sent them the link so they can start using the bookstores and the meetup event so that they can sign up. The following events from now on will be community, because we believe that the best publicity is to have quality code and easy to use and documentation for all developers.

Software and hosting: We bought a private code repository on Github for the team to work on, before releasing it freely. To save cost, we are taking advantage of the support of a Chilean company with its own public Github account, to reach more people.

The expenses incurred so far have been sent to the team. In this project, most of the fund goes to human resources participating in the different parts of the project.
In addition, we already have the commitment of the company Techgethr SpA in Chile to continue helping with equipment and resources after finishing the project in order to continue making more versions for other Javascript technologies.

We already spend 100% of the resources obtained to successfully carry out the development of the technologies committed to this project.

 Key activities

Technologies development: The libraries are already ready, we want to focus on new versions for other Javascript frameworks, to be more inclusive and reach more programmers.

We are organizing a meetup group, in spanish here.

Generally, in Latin America the technical communities are already moving and participating actively since March, but we believe that the pandemic situation has postponed that. Anyway, we will do the meetup in 2021, but also, we are talking with communities in South America related to cryptocurrencies and blockchain (to show WebMonetization, considering the mass of people that already exist in those meetup groups).

 What’s next?

With the libraries already created, our focus goes through 2 parts:

Promoting: Our energies, both the technical and strategic team will now be promoting the technology

Helping community: If there are other funded projects that require support or the use of our libraries, we will gladly help and guide, especially people who are not so technical but where we do have those capacities (we believe that the best promotion is collaboration) .
You can write to nescampos_18@hotmail.com if you need help or collaboration. We all move forward together.

What community support would benefit your project?

Just as we mentioned in the last report, the main objective of the project is based on technologies and events being able to participate as many people as possible, so the community can test our developments and promote the events found in the links below.

In addition, the team behind this project are people who had lost their jobs or had no opportunities due to the pandemic situation around the world, this project has helped boost their careers and we are proud of them.

 Additional comments

As we already said, collaboration between all projects is essential, if we want our projects to be maintained, we must support each other and share our capabilities.
We can help each other.

 Project overview

Our project consists of developing libraries for different Javascript frameworks, which allow to use WebMonetization in a simpler way, speeding up its implementation and allowing programmers to focus on the core of their apps.

We believe that the way to promote this great technology is by facilitating its use for different types of programmers, so they also collaborate with the community and spread knowledge.

In addition, we are supporting ourselves with a company to promote from now on what we have done, since it will be easier later to reach more people, especially in Latin America where we are.

 Project team

Of course this project is a great teamwork, first thanking Coil and WebMonetization.org for the opportunity to take advantage of our capabilities and participate in this technology.

Currently we are 3 fulltime people during the project, plus other programmers who have been helping in each of the libraries that have been made.
We are Néstor Campos (project coordinator and programmer, in Chile), Carolina Vidal (in charge of dissemination and programmer, in the USA) and Marcela Leiva (in charge of managing the fund and coordinating the work with external programmers, in Chile as well).
We supported ourselves with external programmers in a freelance way, taking the opportunity to help people who had not had a job due to the pandemic since last year, so we also wanted to take advantage of this instance to contribute a little to society in what we could.
Finally, a Chilean company, Techgethr SpA, has granted us resources (such as access to the cloud, github account, hours of programming) to accelerate and focus on the achievements we have had so far.

 What we are doing

We have a very simple demo, but it allows you to test each of the implemented methods and how they interact with the web browser (using Puma Browser for now).

In this link you can view and use the demo.

We are also building a community to promote the use and development of technology in Latin America.
Here is our meetup group for you to join.

What community support would benefit your project?

Everyone can participate, both improving the source code, using it or designing libraries for other Javascript frameworks.

The idea is to maintain a strong opensource community alongside this project. It is up to all of us to make it happen.

 Link Round Up!

If you need more information, you can access these links with our reports and github repos.

 Highlight other projects

Our project has synergy with others, since our idea is to simplify the life of Web programmers.
We want to collaborate with several of these projects, and we highlight some that the team has found very interesting:

 Project Update

The report number #1 is here

We have already finalized the committed libraries for this project, available at the links below this post.
We have even created a simple example of using the methods and they work on this link, using Puma Browser

Now our focus is on promotion, both in meetups and other events and alliances that we also mention in this post later.

 Progress on objectives

Development: The design of the libraries proposed in the project has progressed very well, We have finished the missing libraries, in ReactJS, VueJS and Angular. In addition, we are publishing more examples of the use, so that it is more natural for users to understand what we have done.

Events and marketing: We have already spent a little more resources with other organizations in Chile to help us spread our project, even in some paid communities, we sent them the link so they can start using the bookstores and the meetup event so that they can sign up.

Software and hosting: We bought a private code repository on Github for the team to work on, before releasing it freely. To save cost, we are taking advantage of the support of a Chilean company with its own public Github account, to reach more people.

Hackathons: The amount for hackathon is still reserved for the period when it is made public and starts running.

The expenses incurred so far have been sent to the team. In this project, most of the fund goes to human resources participating in the different parts of the project.
And we are reaching almost 100% of the expenses (missing the prizes of the hackathon when it runs). In addition, we already have the commitment of the company Techgethr SpA in Chile to continue helping with equipment and resources after finishing the project in order to continue making more versions for other Javascript technologies

 Key activities

Technologies development: The libraries are already ready, we want to focus on new versions for other Javascript frameworks, to be more inclusive and reach more programmers.

Hackathon: We are fine-tuning the details of the hackathon, both in terms of resources and the date (we estimate it will be in April, to give the community time to learn more about WebMonetization and get to know our libraries that should be used).

 Communications and marketing

We are organizing a meetup event for March, in spanish here, but we are thinking in finding other date, because until now we have less than 10 people registered.

Generally, in Latin America the technical communities are already moving and participating actively since March, but we believe that the pandemic situation has postponed that. Anyway, we will do the meetup in March, but also, we are talking with communities in South America related to cryptocurrencies and blockchain (to show WebMonetization, considering the mass of people that already exist in those meetup groups).

 Project Update

This project is about designing helpers for different libraries in Javascript, to simplify the use of WebMonetization in new applications. Along with this, it involves promoting these technologies through events and hackathons, starting in Latin America.

 Progress on objectives

Development: The design of the libraries proposed in the project has progressed well, in the coming weeks we will finish publishing the rest, along with examples to understand the use of technologies.

Events and marketing: This point has been a little slower, and has been delayed a little, because in Latin America at the time of this report, we are still in the summer period and the technical communities and students are also on vacation, which has not allowed to organize events with much people, therefore, since March a series of events starts for different parts of the continent. Also, we are acquiring some zoom accounts to be able to organize massive events without restriction of time or participants.

 Key activities

Technologies development: Several times a week we update the libraries developed and in the following weeks we will make the new libraries public. For those that are not yet public, we are in the validation and testing stage to confirm and correct any possible bug.Links are at the end of this report.

Events: We are putting together an event plan, which includes zoom calls and participating in other free software events, therefore, we depend on the technical team to design some examples with the technologies created to be able to show them.

Hackathon: We have been in contact with a couple of Chilean universities to participate and promote the hackathon since the beginning of March, when the students return to classes. We are also talking to some companies with technical communities in South America to promote the hackathon when it goes public.

 Communications and marketing

We have created a community in meetup and the events will start soon.

We are preparing a couple of hackathons so that the community in Latin America and students from all over the world can design applications taking advantage of the libraries we are building.
The amount allocated to marketing has so far been used to acquire the meetup.com plan (US $ 10) and the rest of the amount we are ordering to generate prizes for the hackathons.

 What’s next?

We are closing the development of the helpers for other Javascript libraries, Vue.JS, Angular and React.
In addition, in parallel, the team is building examples with the technologies we are using to facilitate the community to understand and use our developments.
In addition, we are fine-tuning communication details to publicize the first hackathon (it will start in late February) so that the community can learn about WebMonetization.

What community support would benefit your project?

The main objective of the project is based on technologies and events being able to participate as many people as possible, so the community can test our developments and promote the events found in the links below.

 Relevant links/resources (optional)
