For those new to our community, ILF stands for Interledger Foundation. We are a community of technologists, digital creatives, researchers, entrepreneurs, and educators working to build new pathways to financial inclusion and equity through digital transactions.

Ayden Férdeline on Dynamic Coalition on Digital Financial Inclusion (IGF)

  • The Internet developed largely freely via the private sector, but governments around the world are now looking to regulate more
  • Interledger Foundation could benefit from a policy advocacy team to engage with the governments actively looking to regulate the Internet, as well as compete with incumbent payment providers who are skilled at working with regulators
  • United Nations Internet Governance Forum a good forum for Interledger Foundation and community to engage with by suggesting technology and policy. Visa and Mastercard are already there. Ayden has been working to establish ILF’s presence there via a working group.
  • Dynamic Coalition on the Digital Financial Inclusion: how can adoption of open, global interoperable payment networks overcome existing barriers and leverage opportunities to enhance financial inclusion across diverse stakeholder groups, and how will this shape the evolution of the Internet and digital economy by 2030? Research report with policy recommendations coming in December 2024. Many voices need to advocate as a coalition for the Interledger protocol as a solution to digital financial inclusion. If you are interested, subscribe to the UN mailing list. There are Monthly calls for 90 minutes. The calls are for guest speakers who are already building on Interledger protocol with prototypes or technology in the wild. The audience is less technical, and you need to be able to speak to such an audience with real examples.

  • Hayden at ferdeline dot com One goal of engaging with policy forums is convincing governments that there is a real need and problem space and that potential solutions are worth investing in by funding experts to work on them.
