Food for Thought: Web Monetization Around Worldwide Networking Sessions

Perhaps this is something that is already being looked at, but if not I thought I'd throw it out there.

I've attended a few worldwide networking and idea sharing sessions this past year, put on by organizations like Remoter and open educational groups. Then this past week I decided to try Lunchclub, which sets up meetings for you with people that they think you might find interesting. I had my first meeting yesterday, and really enjoyed it. If anyone wants an invite, let me know, and I can send you one.

While much of this style of networking has been sparked by the pandemic. I am hoping it does not go away afterwards, as it holds the potential for people meeting who may not otherwise meet or would not be able to afford to attend a conference to connect and meet. These meetings are important for growing as a global community.

As I've been thinking on this, it also has me thinking on whether web monetization would be a good solution for making this sustainable for conferences and other networking sessions. Is there anyone here that has begun to set up web monetization around their networking sessions or conferences? Would love to hear about your experience in doing this. Is there a web monetization platform for this that is in the works?

Me too. Been enjoying Cinnamon and mg.social for beginning to get to know some of the people in this community. A life chat though always creates a richer connection.
