Apply for up to $250,000 in grant funding. Join Interledger β The Global Network for Inclusive Financial Service Providers.
Interledger Foundation(ILF) is now accepting applications under its Digital Financial Services Grant for financial services, products, and innovative solutions geared toward benefitting underserved and underrepresented communities. The goal of this grant program is to create an ecosystem that facilitates secure, private, fast, and free payments across currencies and ledgers.
ILF through this grant program seeks financial services and innovative financial solutions that can foster greater adoption and usage within the Interledger Network and/or is flexible to enable payments with Interledger via innovative digital payment products, platforms, or apps. For this grant cycle, the foundation is accepting projects with a 12-month timeline with a capped budget, per the applicable track option:
Track 1: Interledger |Enabled (up to $250,000.00)
Designed for digital financial service providersβincluding digital wallets, mobile money providers, banks, savings co-ops, and neo-banksβthis track helps integrate Rafiki into existing financial infrastructures, establishing new financial nodes on the Interledger Network.
Track 2: Interledger |Unlocked (up to $150,000.00)
For web-based platforms (e.g., e-commerce sites, donation platforms) that want to expand payment options for users by integrating Open Payments APIs into their systems.
Generally, for both track options, applicants are expected to showcase comprehensively the existing financial service, solution or product and its readiness to use or integrate into the Interledger network or suite of Interledger technologies. This must be accompanied by, where applicable, proof-of-concept, demos, and architectural diagrams outlining plans to incorporate the Open Payments API, ILP, or any other elements of the Interledger tech stack. Ultimately, there should be a clear understanding of how the proposed service will enable money to be transferred to the ILP network and plan for interoperability across systems or currencies.
Through this grant, we are encouraging emerging financial services, products, and innovative solutions that come from and are created outside of the typical locales and demographics. As such, applicants must demonstrate how its idea will enable access to or involvement of an identified and engaged community ready to test, use, and benefit from the project. This can indicate the potential impact of a solution, and it shows the potential for a viable distribution channel for the solution.
Applications for this grant cycle will be accepted until Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11:59 am (ET), via Submittable.
This grant opportunity is ONLY available to registered entities such as companies, NGOs, Educational institutions, and Co-Operatives.
