S.T.O.P. : Our latest non-profit recipient

Founded in 2019, the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.) advocates and litigates to abolish local governments’ systems of mass surveillance. Their work highlights the discriminatory impact of surveillance on Muslim Americans, immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, BIPOC individuals, and particularly the unique trauma of anti-Black policing.

S.T.O.P. uses grassroots advocacy, legislation, education, and litigation to dismantle mass surveillance. Their campaigns push long-overdue reforms and cutting-edge innovations. They reshape narratives around privacy with hundreds of articles and op-eds, ranging from the New York Times, NPR, and Fox News to community papers. They design custom privacy trainings driven by the needs of communities, partnering with trusted messengers to deliver the trainings. They serve survivors of surveillance abuse through impact litigation, suing government agencies and their vendors to end these abuses and to reveal records to the public.

We're excited to direct payments from the global areas of this site (plus our website to S.T.O.P. As of today, this community forum has 590 members, many who use Coil to stream micropayments. We just announced our latest Call for Proposals, which should generate some additional activity in this community space, so we look forward to seeing how much money is generated for S.T.O.P

Remember: you can set your own payment pointer on this site, you can support one of these non-profits, or you can leave the setting blank and all revenue will go to the global recipient.
