I am trying to find a solution to an issue myself and another WordPress user (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/no-excerpts-and-how-to-test-if-its-working/) are running into with Coil's Web Monetization plugin.
We both want to use the excerpt feature on our articles on our sites, that reads "This site is monetized using Coil. If you enjoy the content, consider supporting us by signing up for a Coil Membership. This is how..." to encourage people to sign up for a Coil membership, but while this message appears on the site while customizing in the site's backend, it does not on the live site.
We have both tried numerous CSS Selectors and have inspected our sites for the desired CSS Selectors, but nothing seems to be fixing the issue.
Is there anyone here who has got that feature working on their site?
Any suggested fixes? I am using a variety of different StudioPress Genesis themes on our different sites. The sites in question are https://storytogo.ca, https://storytogo.ca/classroom, https://roamancing.com, https://emmerogers.com, and https://ericahagreave.com.
Thanks so much for any help and insights that you can give.

Thanks for bring patient with this issue.
We are going to release an update for the issue, but in the mean time what you can do is this:
That should solve the issue of the popup no displaying. It should default to ON but it seems that's broken at the moment.
Let me know if this works.
As a head's up, Marc, I also discovered that for some reason when the Coil Plugin is enabled on our StoryToGo Classroom site, it is causing an issue with LearnDash, the LMS plugin on the site, making it impossible to add new content to Lessons or edit previously built lessons. As I need to learning management system working on that site as its the whole purpose to the site, I have temporary disabled the Coil Plugin. I am hoping I can later find a fix for this, as web monetization offers a great solution for funding the open educational content that we produce.
Thanks, we'll test this out.
Is it breaking in the edit screen? Is there a chance you could see if it's throwing an error by opening up the developer console?
It should show bunch of errors in red when editing a Lesson.
Yes, an error is showing in the developer's console.
Attaching a screenshot of what I am getting in the lesson creation area when the Coil plugin is activated on the site.
I have a LearnDash license for a few sites, so if you want me to set LearnDash up on the temporary site that I created for your team to experiment with StudioPress and the Coil plugin, I can do that. Just let me know.
Hm, the image isn't showing, can you try add it as a link?

Which version of WordPress are you using for this site?
Is it on WordPress.com or WordPress.org?
Can you link us to the site?
We're trying to replicate the issue.
You can find the site here: storytogo.ca/classroom/
Fantastic thanks, I think this is something that we have fixed in an upcoming release :)
Oh! Most excellent. Thanks Marc!
Thanks for this heads up. I'm using LearnDash in my project too, so thanks to you I've alerted my developer.
Thanks Pamela. I am really excited to explore what you are working on more. Learning mindfulness is one of the things that helped me build my life back post two car accidents. When you hear details on how to fix that Learn Dash / Coil plugin issue, can you let me know. Just in case I don't hear separately. Thanks Pamela.
Hey Erica, Mindfulness helped me pull my life together too. It's is really trendy right now. But when the rubber hits the road, it's the life skill that made all the difference for me.
And yes I'll absolutely let you know what we discover about that Learn Dash / Coil plugin issue.
Me too. Thanks Pamela.
FYI this is included in the fix we've just released Erica!
Doing the happy dance. Thanks Marc!
That worked. Thanks Marc.
Marc from Coil here. We're looking into this issue and will report back when we've found a fix.
Awesome. Thanks Marc. Both Paul and Nizar have been most helpful. I also sent Paul at test site with a bunch of the StudioPress themes to experiment with, in case that is helpful.
Hey folks. Is the plugin now working smoothly with the LearnDash LMS?
That it is!
Awesome work @marcperel
Quick update from the Coil team, the issues mentioned in this thread have been fixed with an update that we released today :)
Thanks for all the help, everyone!
Oh, most excellent! Off to update the plugin on our various sites. Thanks Marc!
